It annoys me how Paddington is always depicted with his duffle coat and his 'Please look after this bear' label.

As any student of the Paddington canon (in particular Book One: A Bear Called Paddington) will know, when he was found at Paddington station he had the label, but no coat.

He was then taken in by the Brown family, and from that point he did not wear the label. However, a little later they bought him the coat.

It is therefore correct to depict Paddington with label but no coat, or with coat but no label. It is not correct to depict him with both.

You may wish to make a note of this information, and keep it with you.

Paddington remarked on this very same anomaly at the photo shoot in question. However he was eventuality persuaded by his manager, publicist, and merchandising team to wear the coat, because "it's what most people expect" and "it's the brand image". He did give them all his best stare but decided to go along with the whole fiasco in the end, reasoning they would only photoshop in a coat if he didn't.
