This morning I find myself wondering what the going rate for questions in The House of Lords is.

Would I be correct in thinking there would be a sliding scale of charges? Perhaps at one end of the scale a 30 second question would cost several hundred thousand and at the other end of the scale a tenner discreetly passed to the right peer would buy you a quizzical look.

Well for 50p a go you can ask me questions and you don't have to address me as "Your honour" or whatever it is they call a peer of the realm these days! Go on, wake me up and give it a go, bet you get the same answer though to every question. It goes something like this;
"Good morning, I was wondering if you know the way to Amerillo?" to which the reply would be "Get me a cup of tea and I will tell you" You would dutifully trot of and make said, oh so delicious, cuppa and upon your return I would have cranked up my Satnav and be able to give you blow by blow instructions. "Go to the end of the road and turn left....turn left...."

This is as obtuse an entry as yours was, why did it come up in the first place? Have you been listening to Radio 4 again?
