When I saw Colin last week I never thought I'd be writing this only a few days later. His determination and what I can only call "grit" in the face of adversity astounded me. I loved his sense of humour, joking about his predicament seemingly larking about but deftly putting people around him at ease. I went down to the harbour when I was visiting... it seemed so strange without Colin sitting there chatting to everyone, like he'd live there all his life. It seemed to me the harbour was missing something as fundamental as water or boats without Colin. Those afternoons were wonderful sitting there with him watching the comings and goings, chatting about this and that, then wandering over to Molly Malones when we got thirsty. I guess if we'd of hung-out anywhere else I'd now be think the same about there ... because it was Colin who made the place for me. I'm going to miss him so much, but so pleased to have known him.
