The last couple of weeks have flown by. There was the local steam fair and Nigel's birthday all on the same day. There's been more concrete mixed and poured in the cellar. There's been visits to various fireplace companies. There was a 200 mile drive to pick-up a lathe, tied that trip in with a visit to my cousin's and the west London alternative picnic.
Yesterday we had a survey done of the front room chimney and I poured the last bit of concrete into the pump sump hole.
This morning I'm up and 6:00am (Eeeek!) because the chimney sweep is due to arrive at 7am. Not entirely sure why I agreed to such an early visit. I think it was something to do with "...the only time I can fit you in this week is...".
I've also just purchased two matching bedroom fireplaces. Victorian cast iron and covered in layers of paint. There will be before and after photos of them I'm sure. Best thing is they came in at around 5% of my total budget for putting fireplaces back in the house.
I'm astounded to find I've been in the new house for 5 months this week.
