Fire In Oxford St [Apr. 26th, 2007|07:14 pm]
Mark Rimmell
Just walked past big fire in Oxford St.

In The Blue Posts now at a safe distance... I hope.

No photos as I thought there were enough people getting in the way already.

"People on the famous shopping street reported seeing smoke coming out of the ground and the pavement buckle upwards."

No this wasn't what I saw... Whole building on fire... All of London's fire engines there by the end of the night.

Could of been an earlier incident... or as with most things in the media, I find if you know anything at all about the story or event the media will get it wrong in some way. Especially when they are speculating about an ongoing event.

That one's dated 13th April.

This is yesterdays. This is slightly worrying as we have a friend who lives in a flat very close to there.

it was scary! I'd been to the Intrepid Fox, and was planning on getting the no. 10 bus home down Oxford Street. Fat chance of that. It turned up, but we went on an interesting detour around Regent St, and there was a very strong smell of smoke.
