Woke up at 5:30am this morning. Neil was crashed out on the box room floor so I thought I slip out for an early morning swim. Got to the Hampton open air pool at 6am. Lost count on how many lengths I did. More than 20 less than 40 I guess.

I the pool cafe now having coffee.

Yes you should. I feels wonderful being up and about that early and there is a roof top cafe to sit out on and drink coffee and eat big breakfasts, thus undoing all the good the swim just did one ;-)

I am going to try and go again tomorrow and Monday.

I’m impressed by this Spartan act of endeavour. I hope you also beat yourself with birch twigs afterwards ... Resist the pleasures of the flesh my son, for theirin lies eternal damnation!

Well it's not as hardcore as an outdoor pool sounds.. The water is heated to a tropical 82F and the changing rooms have under-floor heating....

I didn't want to hang around outside once I got out... Shiver

Umm, 82F not so much Spartan as sybaritic then. Even so, swimming at 6am!! Your better man than I am Gunga Din ..

Completely tangentially...what are you wearing to the Bluebell Train ride...a, considering making something appropriate and having decision anxiety over colour choices...

I am torn between my dark green taffeta and black lace, bustle, ensemble... But as the plan is to meet for a wander around some antique shops and afternoon tea before hand... I do have to consider the sensibilities of the good people of Lewes ;-)

So I will almost certainly relying on my fall back ensemble of Top hat, Black frockcoat, burgundy paisley waistcoat, black trousers.. hmmmm... I'm going to look like Sir Topham Hatt ;-)

How about your bustle ensemble you wore for the recent bluebell wood shoot? I thought that was wonderful... In fact both of those outfits were sensational.

I was toying with the idea of the brown & wine taffeta bustle ensemble. But also have enough metreage of a true Cadbury's purple dupion that I need an excuse to make up into a polonaise. Can't get more authentic than a Perkins mauvine creation...

"I the pool cafe now having coffee" ???

The perils of emailing in a posting from my phone... Now I know I need new glasses.

It was only the lack of an ‘innit!’ that prevented me thinking you’d slip into Ali G mode :-)
