I am probably risking my sanity... But I've ordered another Tomtom... This time from Amazon because when ever any technology has gone wrong in the past they haven't dicked me around.

I have a feeling I'm going to need the power of satnav over the next few weeks. If it works OK I may get the US maps for it ant take it to the States with me in July... I am guessing we'll need to hire a car in Seattle... and whilst it may have satnav I could probably do with satnav down in Texas if I borrow Ari's car.

Hmmm... Have to ask Paul if he thinks we can do Seattle by cab... Hmmm can't see the point of hiring a car if it's going to be parked 99% of the time we have it.

I may have heat stroke... Off for cold shower.

I suppose you would have to work out the price of hiring said car.....
and how many cab journeys you make and the price of these too.

Re: A question from Yokel Land

The one from Comet (they of the really, really, crap after sales service... In my experience) was a Tomtom One. My cousin has one and she's had no problems. However further researching the old Tomtom One it seems that some people opinion is do not use the Tomtom software to back up the sim card... Which rings true because that's when it all started going wrong for me.

The new one (which should arrive Friday) is another Tomtom One but the new model. I'll be road testing it Monday and Tuesday and Friday.

The first Tomtom One cost £250 the new one is £150... I guess the entry level satnavs will be around the £100 mark before the end of the year.

I decided to give Tomton one more chance and only through Amazon because they really are good about replacing stuff or giving refunds...
