There is but one reason to go to Swindon... to visit R.J. and Emma. Or is that two reasons?
Sunday afternoon was spent down the pub and a good deal of Sunday night as well.
Monday we foolishly went out for a drive. It seemed most of Wiltshire had the same idea... I didn't really take on board the concept of Bank Holiday. We ended up at Wayland's Smithy after abandoning the car next to a convenient ice cream van and walking along the Ridgeway, dodging a potentially lethal mix of mountain bikes, dogs, and small children.
returned to R.J. and Emma's for cream tea in the garden... Very pleasant.
Today I put up a shelf in Lee Anne's room, should of been easy as pie... However I had to go to 3 DIY stores (presumably picked clean over the bank holiday weekend) to get what I needed. I started at 9 am by going to B&Q (think Home Depot if you're that way inclined)... I got the brackets, moved on to another store to get the correct screws, then yet another store for the first lot of wood and then a timber ("lumber" while I'm in a translating mood) yard to get 3 meters (about 3 yards, 3.280 839 895 yards to be precise). As luck would have it I did have some filler (spackling). I didn't actually start drilling in the wall until 2pm... Knock off one hour for lunch... and that 4 hours to get all the stuff. I moan about the self service check-outs at Home Depot in the US but at least you can get everything you need under one roof... once you know what the American for "filler" and "PVA" is ;-)
Note to self.
Trying to put up a 3 me.ter shelf by ones self is not as easy as it may seem.
Further Note to self.
Try and stop using so many brackets in your writing (I guess it's the shelving, I have just gone bracket happy)
