I had an iriver MP3 player that had the same problem. However I never even got to first base, as the screwdriver gave way before any of the screws budged.
More ham fisted efforts born out of frustration, managed to completely not only neutralise the other channel but incapacitate the previously working LCD screen.
Maybe one day in a leisurely pottering moment, inspired by this Masterclass I’ll have another go at bringing the corpse back to life

The reason I have so many is simple; I can have all of my music in any room/place/car without the need to recable everything or find the right adaptor or d.c. voltage input. Plus they were cheaper and better than Ipods, Plus, I don't like to follow the crowd and it gives you the opportunity to see if you can upgrade to megabites in a tiny vessel. Its a tardis for sound systems! Hang on! I have 5 of them, thats 5 tardises. What's the plural of tardis? Tardises, tardi, t.a.r.d.i.s.s. I wish I hadn't started that train of thought!
