OK the secret is out, I have a thing about old fire engines... [Apr. 6th, 2008|01:32 pm]

The owner has suggested some uses one may put this truck to in modern times, one is "political candidate hauler"... This conjured up images of dragging the candidate behind.

If I had it... I'd use it for popping down the shops. I have noticed you can park right up close to all the stores in the US if you have a fire truck.

In other news...
I still feel ill and won't be going out tonight.

WOW I love it too! As soon as I looked it over I had the 'chitty chitty bang bang' sound go through my head! I'd love to see a Victorian inventor get to grips with it. . . .

Sorry that you're still ill. Hope you're looking after yourself!

There's a US fire engine of similar vintage and appearance for sale in the UK - it's in Classic Van & Pick Up magazine (which, fortunately, is a little more up to date than its website).

But as this one is in the US I thought it would do as a nice little run-about while I'm over there... Handy for nipping through traffic ;-)

On the other hand if you get one as well we could start a display team and call ourselves The Brass Helmets.

Re: the empty space in my Fire Engine.........

Indeed I do... It was as I remember moved and restored ... But for years it sat in a big glass case in in a shelter in the gardens.
