Why... [Nov. 28th, 2011|01:22 am]

...is someone calling me from Cyclone Couriers Co Ltd at 1am.

And why can't I get a builder to go look at a house and give me a quote for some work? Clearly too much work out there in the building trade right now.

I'll do it for expenses + curries.

On an 'eat as you go' basis.

New work guaranteed to match the original fabric. The council's building regulations inspector won't be able to see the join!

You're on. But let's see if all this flat selling / house buying thing comes together. Right now it's all in the hands of the solicitors. But all being well I will be able to offer accommodation, and a beer / curry and petrol allowance.

I'd really like to be in by Christmas, if that suits the lady who's selling but what I want and what the seller wants is secondary to the need for solicitors to take their own sweet time. If I add up all the time they have lost taking weeks and days to forward emails and pass on letters, I'd of moved out mid October.

Oh and it's Yellow Stocks you'll mostly be working with. 90p a pop... And I wanted a 10 foot wall. Eeeek! You any good at arches?

I made arches over the door and window in my extension....now covered with ivy, so nobody can see my work.

Made a wooden former, temporarily fixed in place, lined up bricks on top of it, and hey presto.

I wish now I'd used soft red bricks, instead of just the handful of red stocks that came with my yellows. The bricks were a bit rough-textured and don't really match the originals. Not that anyone's ever noticed...

I was only an apprentice at the time!

So an arch spanning a garage door would present little problems for you now? I'll meet you in the Princess Louise to show you the plans.
