Audio Books... [Nov. 29th, 2011|01:25 am]

I love audio books. Yes I prefer to read but there's only so much time one can spend tucked-up in bed with a good book. The wonderful thing about audio books is you can listen to them while driving, walking around, decorating (I can't think of Dreadnought by Cherie Priest without remembering painting the living room ceiling). The other day Mr Amazon delivered a mp3 CD of another Cherie Priest novel "Hellbent", which promptly found its way into the car player. Trouble is now I am looking for excuses to go for a drive. On the plus side I didn't care when stuck at a level crossing today, waiting for 2 trains in each direction, just means a little longer listening to Natalie Ross (who IMHO is brilliant and must be an actress too, gotta be) reading as Raylene. First person novels seem to work especially well as audio books, with the right reader of course.

Just noticed on the cover of the Hellbent CD it states "Performed by Natalie Ross". This is spot on, "read by" just sounds too passive for what she does. It is like listening to a one woman play.
