Stuff achieved this week... [Jun. 23rd, 2012|01:34 pm]

One radiator moved in the second bedroom so can now open up the fireplace in there.

One radiator removed and pipework in place for new cast iron radiator in hall.

Sockets and cable obtained to move power point.

Exploratory hole made in cellar floor to test depth of concrete. Larger angle grinder and blades purchased to cut hole in afore mentioned cellar floor.

The full list is rather longer but these are the ones that really make me happy.

Today I'm off to pick up free bricks so I can rebuild the bottom of the cellar stairs. The existing bottom two steps are a little flimsy. I've decided to make them out of brick so they can support the rest of the stairs properly and support the pump that's going in under the bottom step.

I'm intrigued as to what you are planning in the cellar that needs a pump

Apparently a few years ago a water main burst and the cellar flooded... well 2 inches of water on the floor. So I decided all the benches will be on 4 inch water proof legs and I will install a sump and automatic pump that will output to the drain outside. There will also be an alarm that trips at 1 inch of water in the sump.
