Spent a very pleasant afternoon yesterday, chatting to ariaga on the phone... this is one of my favourite things to do (in the physical absence of Ari).

Ian came over last night... we had a mission. The mission was find a good pub with real ale and NO television. Had to leave Twickenahm to find one but we did it. I've been recommended the White Swan in Richmond before but never tried it... However seeing as I've been driven out of all the formally good pubs but the dreaded glass teat. Well it was worth a trip across the river, the pub is a little too bright for my liking but no TV and 3 real ales... probably the less said about the piped music the better, but we sat out side for most of the night. We were only disturbed by flocks of parakeets and a car alarm. Staggered home to a brief exchange of messages with the wonderful ariaga, then crashed out.

I woke up around 5am and couldn't get back to sleep, Ian was on the sofa in the living room so I decided to go out for an early morning ride on my bike... and very pleasant it was too, had the roads to myself. Came back home around 7 and managed to sleep for a while before filling Ian up with coffee and sending him off to work.

Went to see my dad this afternoon.... Wow! What an improvement! He's sitting up, alert, less trembling, still talking a load of nonsense and lots of confusion... but he's really cheerful. I'm feeling a little more optimistic.
