Yes, I know the bricks don't match. This part of the house is going to be rendered once I've done some other work.

This was just crumbling away.
It is traditional to use lintels above doors and windows, these lintels are made of felt.

The top of this wall was so weak a trained kitten could of demolished the top four courses with it's bare paws.
Unfortunately we didn't have a kitten to hand or the time to train it.
We didn't even have the time to research the relevant animal welfare laws.

Hopefully won't be seeing this view of my inspection pit from the landing window ever again.

We took the opportunity to add more insulation to the bathroom.
What was there can only be described as token insulation.

You wouldn't have been in the way, we'd of even lent you you a wheelbarrow. That said if you want to come and join in there's still lots to do... plasterer arrives Thursday, then there's the flooring chap due, then the plumber, then I sit down and have a break for a few days. It seems for every day I have a tradesman in I need to do a week's worth of work to prepare the rooms for them. Doing things like finding the hidden live cables someone cut off and tucked into the walls sometime in the past, , levelling the floor where the new radiator is going, scraping all the flaking paint off walls and ceilings ahead of the plasterer.
