Wonky Car

Saturday I jumped into the Silver Machine and was greeted to ignition by clouds of steam, engine warning light, and juddering. Emergency call to The Mighty Kevan and I'm heading off to his garage, 200 miles away. Nursed the car there by stopping at every service station along the way, topping up with water at each stop. Arrived in Wiltshire and swapped most of the gubbins from my car to a loaner.

Quick trip over to see Terri and Kevan, then called Roger Moore (not THAT Roger Moore) to see if he's amenable to me visiting and crashing on a sofa at his place. Luckily he was, otherwise the plan was motel.

Drove home Sunday morning via my cousin Paul. Then arrived home just as it was getting dark. Loaner car only just fits on drive. Note to self, measure any new car dimensions against available off road parking before purchase.

News in today about my car, Kev thinks it's not an expensively terminal case and will set to with spanners to fix it tomorrow when parts arrive... big PHEW!

In other, slightly related news...
The dog went a bit nuts when I arrive home this evening. Number one lodger pointed out it was because she didn't recognise the borrowed car's engine sound, so it could have been anyone about to come through the door.
