You wot? [May. 26th, 2014|10:25 pm]
Mark Rimmell
My hearing is on the blink, has been for a while. Most of the time I get by, hopefully nodding and smiling at the right places during a conversation.

Every now and then I just know I've misheard because what apparently pops into my head via the slightly duff lug-holes, is so off the wall I have to ask "Wot?" and "You really didn't say... ... did you?".

Tonight's classic example, while we were talking about coffee mugs being left scattered around the house, up on the scaffolding, in the garage by the builders. Jo apparently (as far as I could tell) said "Oh don't! Right now I could come on a currant,"

Following my request for clarification on this singular boast, it turned out what Jo actually said was "Oh don't! Right now that's a common occurrence."

That made more sense because Jo hates dried fruit.
