It seems The Dev is under threat of turning "trendy". They are asking for suggestions on how to boost goth drinking levels in both numbers of goths and quantity of drink drunk. Not a hard task you would of thought...

I had a really good night out at The Dev last Sunday. So why don't I go more often? I really like the Dev, friendly alternative crowed, not unpleasant music., but there's nothing to drink there for me. I make do with Guinness because it's the least offensive of anything they have (I do appreciate the artistry in the head). I can't persuade many friends to go with me because of the selection of drink. I see a lot of goths at beer festivals and I'm sorry to say the beer on sale at the Dev doesn't impress them. It has been termed as "another pub with no beer". I feel disloyal even mentioning this but if it would attract a few more people maybe they could get in a selection of bottled ales that aren't the norm fizzy pop. I mentioned it on the site... well they are asking for suggestions. I do feel that word will not go round quick enough or attract the numbers they are looking for. And even though I put it kindly it feels like kicking them while they are down... a sort of "oh your sales are down, your jobs under threat, and your home... did I mention your beer's crap". Well I put my two penny's worth in via The Dev Web Site and hope it helps... Maybe a few more from one idea, a few more from another idea... will add up to enough people to save the day... or Dev.

As for the owners turning it into a trendy bar... I remember walking past the Dev when they tried turning it into some sort of Australian bar (I think that's what it was). It was as empty as Old Mother Hubbard's larder. It's too far off the main drag to pull in the trendy punters. If they think they are going to make more money by going chav, I think they are going to kiss their refit money goodbye. The other thing is the 3 months to increase business.. That means they miss the seasonal upturn in business Camden (and the whole of London) gets in July / August.</a>
